Delis Committed To Improving Lives And Fostering Sustainable Development

DELIS exist to promote and support grassroot initiatives of all women, children and youths, people living with HIV/AIDS, alleviate poverty and tackle all socio-economic challenges through collective efforts with the community, stakeholders and other development actors. DELIS members noted that local population in Tanzania is facing several critical challenges that include gender-based violence, violence against children (harms each child, it also jeopardizes their future survival, health and education.), high unemployment rate, HIV/AIDS infection, declining educational and health services standards, poor living conditions, and exclusion of other susceptible group in the community impact women empowerment, children, and youth development. In Tanzania climate change is increasingly as a major challenge affected by a rise in sea level, changing patterns of rainfall and increases in average temperature which lead to the environmental degradation.

This approach aligns with global health initiatives such as the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets, which aim to ensure that by 2030: a) 95% of people living with HIV know their status, b) 95% of those diagnosed are accessing treatment, c) 95% of those on treatment achieve viral suppression.
We Empower Local Communities : Tuinuane Women Group at Magu town they don’t just provide tailoring – they create opportunities. Most of the work is carried out by local people, offering them income and showcasing the power of self-help initiatives to inspire further community development.
In 2023, Delis representative participated in a regional NGO coordination meeting on Marburg Virus Disease (MVD) awareness, held at the Regional Commissioner’s Hall in Mwanza. The meeting aimed to strengthen community preparedness, share accurate information, and coordinate response efforts among stakeholders. Delis contributed to discussions on public health education and community engagement strategies to help prevent the spread of MVD.

Objective 02: Advocate for Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) initiatives among Women, Youth and Children.

Objective 03: Raising awareness on HIV/AIDS; specifically focusing on preventing transmission, care and support of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA),Orphans Vulnerable Children (OVC) and their caregivers.
