About DELIS

History & Situation

Development Links | DELIS is a NGO committed to improving lives and fostering sustainable development for underprivilege group especially women, youth and children. DELIS was officially established and registered in Tanzania as of 5th September 2022 with registration No. 00NGO/R/3629, the targeted beneficiaries of DELIS’s work are marginalized group that going to benefit from their activities. 

In the interest of transparency to beneficiaries and donors, DELIS will make its audited financial statements available for download.

Existence

DELIS exist to promote and support grassroot initiatives of all women, children and youths, people living with HIV/AIDS, alleviate poverty and tackle all socio-economic challenges through collective efforts with the community, stakeholders and other development actors. DELIS members noted that local population in Tanzania is facing several critical challenges that include gender-based violence, violence against children (harms each child, it also jeopardizes their future survival, health and education.), high unemployment rate, HIV/AIDS infection, declining educational and health services standards, poor living conditions, and exclusion of other susceptible group in the community impact women empowerment, children, and youth development. In Tanzania climate change is increasingly as a major challenge affected by a rise in sea level, changing patterns of rainfall and increases in average temperature which lead to the environmental degradation.

Current And Previous Partners

We take note of the immense contributions made by all our different partners that enabled DELIS to realize its’ objectives. Our supporters allowed us to pursue our vision to Improved quality of life for the local population to fulfil the aspiration of sustainable development in Tanzania through their collective voice is raising awareness and influencing change on issues that matters to them.

DELIS is open to new partnerships and support from new and existing donors, to enable the organization to realize its’ mandate as per the 2022-2025 strategic plan.

Staff

Our Projects are driven by the passion and commitment of our staff. In our teams all around Tanzania, we care about volunteering. This is because so many of us have been volunteers ourselves. Our Executive Director, Philemon P. Kuchiba, is one of them. Since 2000, he took over the day-to-day running of activities from our founder, Mr. N. Habbi Gunze. Philemon is supported by highly experienced core teams, and by committed and passionate staff in country. We are a national level organization that works in mainland Tanzania.

DELIS have well-functioning governance and management structures with the top most being the Executive Committee elected on a two-year term during Annual General Meetings and meet regularly. The Board is chaired by a Chairman, with the Executive Director as the Secretary and reports to the board on progress of the Secretariat. DELIS have clear segregation of duties/roles ensuring optimal programmatic and financial decisions are made professionally and timely.
